Independence Weekend

Friday July 1st marked the start of my Independence Weekend as BYU football became offically independent! Yay, no more watching The Mtn. and asking my roommate if they are really blurring out the players tattoo and then realizing the players face is just as blurry and it's just their picture clarity that stinks(and their commentators, opinions...etc.) To celebrate I went to a ward pool party and watched Harry Potter 6(skipping the scary part at the end, I hate Inferi, they creep me out).

Saturday morning Katie ran to Raintree and convinced me to bring my car and her swimsuit and we went to the pool, where we tried to create mutations in our melanin, well I wore sunscreen so really it was just Katie doing that. Saturday night I went and sat right outside of the stadium with my friend Star(who I may have given a black eye on Thurs., apparently we're not that good of friends) and we listened to the Brad Paisley concert and then got showered with firework shrapnel.

Sunday I celebrated my Independence and freedom of religion by going to church and enjoying an amazing testimony meeting. After church Katie and I attended a training meeting(where the fed us) for the Freedom Run volunteers. I then made cream puffs for our ward dessert night, which was followed by a fireworks show put on by a guy who felt like spending ~$1,000 to fulfill his pyromaniac tendencies. I enjoyed it though. After the firework show ended 3 cop cars showed up, not because the fireworks were illegal but because my old FHE brother got into an argument with the University Parking dude. I don't blame him though and to not go into a further rant about my feelings for the terrible business i'll just say that if Satan were mortal and living on the earth he would work for University Parking.

The 4th was a jam packed day starting early in the morning volunteering. After the race was over, I went home and took a nap(which is a very important 4th of July tradition for me). In the afternoon, my friend Star joined Katie and I as we went to the Freedom Days Car Show(which made me miss SV and my dad). On our way back we stopped by the Freedom Days vending market which reminded me of Art in the Park(once again missing SV). Katie and I then went to the pool with a friend before we headed to Thanksgiving Point to watch our final fireworks show of the weekend and played with Katie's family. I even was able to throw a football with Katie's brother while we were waiting for the Fireworks to start and then with Katie as her and I waited for 45 min. in the parking lot after the show.

4th of July never fails to produce a fun time, even when I have no plans. If I learned one thing about myself this weekend it's that I REALLY love fireworks and swimming.
