I'm also always trying to convince my roommates that they need to come down and visit Arizona(specifically SV), so the realize it's not a terrible, hot place, and there is a reason I love so much. So my newest plan is to get my roommate Katie(she likes running too) to fly down there and run the race with me. It will give us something to train for which = more motivation to exercise.
We can practice on the BYU stairs

There is 120 on that stretch and the largest stairs in the race are 180. So they should be good for practice.

Bisbee is higher in elevation than BYU by about 700 ft. but if we need to get used to the elevation we can run up the canyon.
Next thing, I'm a poor college student. Enter solution.
You can give plasma 2 times a week at $30 each, if I do this for 7 weeks(the rest of spring term) I will have enough for a plane ticket and registration.
We'll see if this actually happens, but I think it sounds like a great college adventure, so I sure hope it does and maybe our story could even make it into the Daily Universe.
The race is October 15th for anyone want to join in the adventure.
I love the Bisbee 1000 and plan on running it this year. You have a very creative plan for financing the trip :)
ReplyDeleteOctober 15th. I might need to join you. I think I'm on break then.
ReplyDeleteYou should do it Aunt Kathy! Also I'm going to try and convince more people from Utah to come with me, we can make it a party at the plasma bank.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to start training for the 1000. But you can count me out for the plasma bank.
