Although you probably don't need it because you're right, I watched sports and baked.
It's volleyball season and there 4 weekends in a row with home games, great right (the answer is yes, I love volleyball) BYU won both games it was wonderful, but kinda expected the other team is now 3-12, while we are 10-3.
So that's sports, now onto baking. I made some friends last semester in flexibility class, and I hadn't really seen them much since the semester ended, but at the volleyball game two weeks ago I ran into them and we decided to get together and bake (my oreo truffles is what made us friends in the first place). So tonight I brought my cooking stuff (and nerf guns) to their house and we made oreo truffles* (not really baking, I know), so now they can make them on their own. However I don't know if they have the cookware needed, I've had it confirmed by multiple apartments of guys that they don't bring any cooking stuff when they move into a new place they just use what the last guys that lived there left behind, a house of 7 guys only had 3 spoons (this concept is pretty much beyond my comprehension). So we made treats and then worked them off with an epic nerf gun war. Their house has so many corners, couches and tables to hid behind, it's pretty much perfect for nerf gun wars (except that lots of darts get lost).
This wasn't the only baking I did though. My roommate had a dinner with her friends and she was in charge of dessert and so she asked for my help on what to make. I decided to make a recipe I found on a cooking blog. If I were to come up with an alternative name for them I would call them Mitt Romney Brownies they're really rich but the have nothing on Bill Gates. Their real name is Take 5 brownies because it has all of the components of the candy bar...hence I LOVE them.
| There was no room in the fridge and they needed to cool, and outside is currently cooler than our fridge. |
Mine did not look as good as the one on the blog, I'm pretty sure I didn't boil the caramel long enough/at the right temp so it didn't set up but I didn't have a candy thermometer like the blog suggested and I've never made caramel before. Plus they still taste delicious, but how could they not. Brownie, peanut butter, pretzels chocolate chips and caramel is a pretty great combination.
Also I guess I do have other activities than sports and baking, this weekend I did laundry and started reading the Hunger Games... and even a little studying.
*It should be known that my baking buddy is A LOT better at crushing Oreos than I am, but I guess since tackling people is what is paying for his education he better be good at hitting things.
