I have made more cream puffs in the last 8 months than Jimmer scored in this past season(he had 1068 points for those of you who don't have Jimmer Fever). Don't worry though I didn't eat that many.
I've discovered in this time that people in general LOVE cream puffs. If you remember I started to realize this when I was taking my golf class http://theadventuresofalisonwonderland.blogspot.com/2010/07/im-favorite-loser.html, then I made them for a dessert party when I first moved into the 61st ward, I didn't make them for our apartment Halloween party and I had people asking where the cream puffs were; so I made them and went reverse trick or treating to the guys in my ward as a bribe to have them sign my petition for Bethany to move to Utah(I got the signatures but apparently 200 signatures from men wasn't enough for her). I then made them for Christmas, and of course I had a party for national cream puff day (Jan. 2), they were my valentine's day gift to the guys in my ward and I have made them on a couple occasions when BYU has lost. So I guess it's not really a surprise that I've made that many, it is kinda my turn to treat.
My most recent baking of these heavenly treats has been for an end of the school year treat. My teacher for the volleyball class I'm in this semester was in my golf class this summer and told me the other day that she recalled me promising to make her cream puffs and I've always been told not to go back on your promise(even though I think she made this one up). So my volleyball class gets cream puffs, I don't see anything but happiness coming from that, well except if you chose to take volleyball at a different time or from a different teacher or if you're not in volleyball at all.
For those that are wondering the recipe can be found here. http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/cream-puffs/Detail.aspx
I use usually use a package of vanilla and a package of white chocolate pudding, but you can really try any flavor you want, some people like them with banana cream, and I've done chocolate cheesecake which is also pretty good. They are super good and pretty forgiving. If the top doesn't look the best cover it with chocolate and no one will know.
Thanks for the post. I enjoy reading about your life. I also enjoy eating cream puffs. When I was a girl my Dad would occasionally request that Randi Sue and I go down to Southside Bakery and get cream puffs. Memories and food, both are good!
