BAW

So this week is one of my favorite weeks of the year, it is probably 2nd with the week between Celebration of Life Day and my birthday being first. There are multiple reasons, the obvious being BASKETBALL, this week starts the first round of the NCAA tournament and so you don't have to go far to hear a discussion of basketball brackets and I could theorize about basketball all day. The next reason being....Spring Break! NOT, BYU doesn't believe in Spring Break, so I don't get a break, or a time to catch up, which I could really use right now; instead I have midterms. One of the other reasons is it is BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK! I get to go to classrooms and talk to students about the brain, which is pretty much fantastic. There has also been a couple activities. Monday Night there was a Discover Your Brain FHE, which I sadly did not get to and today there was a Abnormalities of the Brain Lecture by Dr. Michael Brown (who is my favorite professor). I did go to that and was reminded about Oliver Sacks who has Face Blindness (Prosopagnosia in science terms). He has discovered so much about neurological issues and he has a neurological disorder himself. I highly suggest watching the video because it's pretty cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4cjMV98e10 and it will link you to other videos about it and other cool disorders. Now that I think if it maybe Picasso had Prosopagnosia and that's why his painting of the face was so weird.

Stay tuned tomorrow I plan on talking about what I've learned in class this week, which is dealing with speech, language, and the Brain. This includes reading disorders and will give you something to think about during Sunday School when people are asked to read aloud.
