Labor Day Weekend

The weekend started out with Flapjack Friday which is an activity my friend Amanda and her roommates put on periodically, we give ourselves hobo names (mine this semester is Lavander Gooms), visit in an old pioneer house and eat pancakes. After a quick visit to that I headed over to my Bishops house were we had a BBQ to end our opening week of school and social activities. It was lots of fun although I may be a little to competitive when it comes to games played with a basketball. Saturday morning Katie and I went to a free french toast breakfast put on by an art major that needed to use a lot of eggs. The football game started at 5 so I started my walk to the stadium at about 4. It was BYU vs. Washington and BYU won 23-17. How I love college football!
Sunday morning I met with the Bishop to get my calling, each apartment was assigned a time to met with a member of the bishopric. I am ward employment specialist(I don't really know what to think of it, since it took me quite a while to find a job of my own). Church started at 1 and I am still getting used to meeting in a random room on campus, last year we met in an actual church building. Sunday evening I planned a snack/game night and we put flyers on the stairwells Saturday afternoon and invited some people from my last ward. I didn't expect many people to show up because no one really did to our activities at our old apartment but apparently I have a very social ward and judging by the number of cream puffs that were left I would guess there was about 40-45 people that came throughout the night. Since our apartment isn't that big no one played games we just ate the snacks I made and talked.
Monday I went with Katie and joined her family at Payson Lake. I went out on their canoe and Katie painted an assignment for art class. We roasted hotdogs and made s'mores and then came back and went to FHE at the Bishop's House. Not a very scholarly productive weekend but it was fun.

P.S.-I'm making it a goal for the semester to blog at least once a week to please my mother, we will see if it actually happens but I'm going to be optimistic.
