Lazy Saturday

Yesterday I had a wonderful lazy Saturday. I woke up at 8:20ish and James was gone on his run, which surprised me because I'm more of a morning person (or at least I used to be) and so I'm awake in the mornings but it didn't even wake me up when he got out of bed. I got up and did my nails because they needed attention, last time I did my nails was the beginning of June when I was in Arizona. When James got home he was tired because he had just run 15 miles and so he took a long nap and the bed just looked so comfortable that I decided to join him, so pretty much I didn't get up until noon, it was crazy. And after that we didn't do much because we've been drawn in by the show Alias on netflix and with the Wii we got as a gift for James going to NCAA regionals it is so easy to watch netfilx. One thing I did have to do was cook dinner because when James runs he gets real hungry, and becomes a little dramatic to get the point across. (I'm glad he is developing talent in acting so when his knees go out around 50 he'll have another hobby to turn to) He will lay on the couch and groan in anguish saying something about his blood sugar and he doesn't know if he will make it through. At this point I hand him an otter pop and start to cook.

Melanie, my wonderful sister, sent me a link to this blog that she loves and now I also love and while perusing I found this stellar recipe for Skillet Chili Mac that I decided to cook last night, and probably next week also. (well not next week since James will be gone, but it will be in my instant queue[netflix is getting to me] of recipes) It's a ONE DISH meal with meat, pasta and I added beans to fill it out even more and James loved it as well as being impressed by how well it warmed up the next day; which means it makes enough to be warmed up the next day and when you have a husband who runs 70-80 miles a week that is a feat in and of itself. (Sorry this blog is FULL of tangents and NO pictures) This chili mac has corn, green chili and cilantro for added flavor. James liked it as is but I like a little more spicy so I added a little chili powder to my bowl.

I love the summer weekends where I don't have any commitments and I can just enjoy the day with my husband.
