Citrus Season

I misplaced my camera and so there are no pictures at least not that I took. :( It really is sad because I was going to blog about my oh so epic window painting but alas I couldn't take a picture of it, so that will just have to wait. Instead you get to hear about my love for citrus.

So about a month ago, I made Orange Zested cookies and let me tell you they are delicious. I then made the same cookies but used lemons that my roommate had instead of orange; they were good but I think I prefer the orange. My friend Star really liked these cookies because they reminded her of her mom's orange rolls(she's not the only one who thought they tasted like orange rolls). She was asking when I would bake for her next and I told her when she took her flexibility test I would bring her treats. She requested the orange cookies and so I made them.
According to the cookie blog some people think that citrus is a summer fruit but I of course know better than that and citrus reminds me of winter. A Maroney family traditional food for Christmas is Citrus salad it has oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, banana and pineapple. Peeling all of the citrus is messy and time consuming but it is well worth the pain it is to make it. Last year I volunteered/was put in charge of peeling(I don't remember which one it was), this was the first time I had done it. This is me peeling the grapefruit, when my mom does it she usually puts in a Christmas movie but I just enjoyed visiting with my family as a peeled. I am SOOOO excited to go home for Christmas. I fly into the Phoenix in 9 days. We're down to single digits and so is the weather in Provo. I am ready to be in a place where there low temps are higher than my high temps. The projected high of 66 next Thursday when I fly in sounds really nice to me.
