3.14

Sorry for the lame title, I don't know what's up with my but all of my creative juices seem to be disappearing. Also I was meaning to blog about it on Pi Day but instead I waited a whole week, what am I doing with my life?!

So last Wednesday I decided to try my hand at making pie. I have a pretty good reputation among those I know of being an excellent baker, but I had never made a pie. A little weird, I know. I decided I would make a banana coconut and my roommate convinced me to make a chicken pot pie for dinner.

Let's just say I have a lot of work to do when it comes to making a good pie. They tasted good but the presentation was awful. I'm even a little embarrassed to post the pictures, but I guess it's just a testament to the fact that I am human.

Chopping up veggies for the pot pie.
Mmmm....gravy.

I didn't roll out my pie crust quite large enough.

My neighbors
(This was the first time I invited James to do something with me and Dave randomly came over 2/28/13)
came and helped with the cream pie. So nice of them!
But then they thought that since they stirred the pudding, THEY made the pie.

I'll let them claim it, besides it's not pretty enough to be something I made ;)
Banana Coconut Cream Pie makes a really good Breakfast.

So clearly I also need to work on the pictures I take, but at least I have pictures right. After my neighbors finished helping me with the pie we took it over to their apartment to set and watched Back to the Future(I snuggled up to James a little bit for the first time), which was a good fit because the dogs name is Einstein and Pi day is also Einstein's birthday.

This past week I have also seen my Basketball Bracket be moved to last place in the competition, went to a rugby game, made soup for my relief society and attended a stake relief society fireside that Julie B. Beck spoke at. Pretty great week if I do say so myself.

  1. Pies get better with practice. Dad really enjoyed the year I decided to learn to make pie. It was reminiscent of the year you wanted to find the perfect pizza crust recipe.
